Can cats eat wild mushrooms?

Dangerous

Mushrooms from the yard, pots or woods may be deadly to the liver and kidneys.

If your cat ate it

Signs
Vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, wobbliness, later yellow gums (jaundice)
When
Minutes to 12 hours; liver damage over 1–3 days
What to do now
Go to a vet now and bring a sample in a paper bag for identification.

Don't.

Why

Amanita species (amatoxins) cause liver failure; others damage kidneys or nerves. They're hard to identify by eye, so treat any ingestion as toxic — including tiny mushrooms in houseplant soil.

If your cat has a condition

Dangerous for every cat, with or without a health condition.
