Cat Food Lab (“Company”) protects your personal information and complies with applicable laws including Korean PIPA, the EU GDPR, and California CCPA/CPRA where applicable.
1. Information We Collect
- Required: Email, nickname, OAuth identifiers (Naver, Google, etc.), service logs
- Optional / in use: Pet profiles (name, species, weight, conditions), care/meal/medication records, uploaded photos
- AI & sync: AI chat content and recent context (for mobile–web sync), AI usage history
- Payments: Subscription, consultation, and point transaction records (payment instruments handled by stores/PG)
2. How We Collect
Registration, login, in-app input, AI chat, product submissions, support requests, cookies, and device logs.
3. Purposes of Use
- Authentication and fraud prevention
- Personalized nutrition/care features and AI assistance
- Cross-device synchronization
- Feed, rankings, and insights: displaying reference rankings and statistics to other logged-in members (Terms Art. 9)
- Billing, subscriptions, consultations, and support
- Legal compliance, dispute response, and de-identified or aggregated analytics for service improvement
- Pet health and nutrition research: studying disease progression and diets with pseudonymised/de-identified records, and publishing aggregated results (Section 4)
4. Pet Health Research (Pseudonymised / De-identified)
To build knowledge that helps people care for sick pets, we may use the pet records members keep in the Service for research under the following principles.
- Records used: pet species, breed, age, weight, diagnoses and stages, meals and nutrient intake, blood and urine tests, medication and status logs, date of death, and other health history
- How: we remove or transform information that could identify you or your pet (email, nickname, photos, pet name, etc.) before analysis (pseudonymisation / de-identification). We do not link the processed data back to any member.
- Publishing results: results are published only as aggregated statistics across many pets (articles, reports, academic presentations), never in a form that identifies an individual member or pet. Published aggregates use only results drawn from a sufficient number of pets.
- External sharing: where research collaboration requires it, we share only aggregated or de-identified data, and we never sell records.
5. Disclosure to Other Members (Feed & Rankings)
We do not sell your care, meal, or weight records or pet profiles. However, as part of the Service, other logged-in members may view the following for reference in Feed, calorie/weight rankings, disease-based food statistics, and similar features:
- Examples: display name/nickname, pet name, photo, calorie/intake, weight, rank, country indicator, age, etc.
- Audience: registered, logged-in members (member-only features, not open to the general public)
- Legal basis: consent through Terms and this Policy, and processing necessary to provide the Service
- You may manage display names via profile settings. Rankings update or stop upon deletion or account closure. Aggregated statistics already produced may be retained per our Terms and this Policy.
The same principles apply to users in the EU, US, and elsewhere. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration under CCPA and similar laws.
6. Retention
We delete data when purposes are fulfilled, except where law or operations require retention:
| Data | Period |
|---|---|
| Account data | Until deletion request (then erased unless legally retained) |
| AI chat & care logs | For sync/service period; deletion requests honored within legal limits |
| Feed/ranking display data | While records and membership remain active; removed from rankings on deletion/closure; aggregates may be retained separately |
| Pseudonymised/de-identified research data | Until the research purpose is fulfilled (kept in a form that cannot identify members; Section 4) |
| User-submitted product/nutrition data | May remain in shared DB after account deletion (Terms Art. 5) |
| Payment/tax records | As required by law |
7. Sharing & Processors
We do not sell personal information to outside businesses without consent. We use processors (AI, cloud, payment, app stores, analytics) under contractual and technical safeguards; cross-border transfers may occur. Display to other members in Feed/Rankings is governed by Section 5 above—not a sale to third parties.
8. AI & Automated Processing
AI features involve automated processing. EU users may have rights to object or request explanations under GDPR. Do not enter unnecessary personal data into AI chat.
9. Your Rights (Korea, EU, US)
- Access, correction, deletion, restriction, and withdrawal of consent
- EU: portability, automated decision rights, supervisory authority complaints
- California: know/delete/opt-out of sale/sharing where applicable — support@catlabapp.com
