Can cats eat tomato?

A little

A little ripe red flesh is fine — green fruit, stems and leaves are toxic.

How much

Up to per day 10g about 1 pieces · 1 cherry tomato ≈ 10 g

4 kg adult cat, treats ≤10% of ~200 kcal/day

PreparationFully ripe, small pieces.

Why

Tomatoes are nightshades: leaves, stems and unripe green fruit contain solanine and tomatine. Ripe red flesh is very low risk. Ketchup adds sugar, salt and onion.
