Can cats eat salt?

Avoid

A teaspoon of salt can poison a small cat — watch salt lamps too.

Don't.

Why

Large amounts raise blood sodium and can cause vomiting, tremors and seizures (danger from about 2 g/kg). Salt lamps, homemade play dough and seawater are common sources. Seasoning-level amounts aren't that, but don't add salt to cat food.
