Can cats eat raw meat (for people)?

Avoid

Raw meat for people can carry Salmonella, Campylobacter and parasites — cook it.

Cook it (see beef and chicken breast).

Why

Supermarket meat isn't handled for raw eating, so bacteria and parasites (including Toxoplasma) are a risk — for your cat and for people at home, especially children and pregnant women. Raw feeding needs pet-grade products and a balanced recipe.

If your cat has a condition

  • Kidney disease Avoid No specific data — follow the overall verdict.
  • Diabetes Avoid No specific data — follow the overall verdict.
  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid No specific data — follow the overall verdict.
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
