Can cats eat wakame seaweed?

A little

A fingernail of soaked wakame — very high in iodine, and seaweed soup is seasoned.

How much

Up to per day 2g about 2 pieces · 1 fingernail-size piece ≈ 1 g

4 kg adult cat, treats ≤10% of ~200 kcal/day

PreparationSoaked, a tiny piece.

Why

Wakame and kelp are extremely iodine-rich and can affect the thyroid with frequent feeding. Dried seaweed expands in the stomach — soak it and give very little.
