Can cats eat mandarin & orange?

Avoid

Mildly toxic at most, but peel oils and acid upset the stomach — most cats hate the smell anyway.

Don't.

Why

Citrus peel oils (limonene and others) and psoralens can cause vomiting, diarrhea and skin irritation. A piece of flesh is unlikely to harm, but there's no benefit, and cats dislike the smell.

If your cat has a condition

  • Kidney disease Avoid Lower than the 2,000 mg/1000kcal kidney-diet line. Phosphorus 500 mg/1000kcal
  • Diabetes Avoid Mostly sugar or starch — skip it for diabetic cats. Carbs 96% of calories
  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid Low in salt. Sodium 29 mg/1000kcal
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
