Can cats eat honey?

Avoid

Cats can't taste it — it's just sugar. Medical-grade wound honey is a different thing.

Don't.

Why

Honey is about 80% sugar — bad news for overweight or diabetic cats. Medical-grade honey used on wounds is a separate matter.

If your cat has a condition

  • Kidney disease Avoid Lower than the 2,000 mg/1000kcal kidney-diet line. Phosphorus 22 mg/1000kcal
  • Diabetes Avoid Mostly sugar or starch — skip it for diabetic cats. Carbs 100% of calories
  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid Low in salt. Sodium 3 mg/1000kcal
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
