Can cats eat ham & sausage?

Avoid

Several times the salt of cat food, and often onion or garlic powder.

Don't; use plain boiled chicken instead.

Why

Processed meats carry roughly 700–1,000 mg sodium per 100 g, preservatives such as nitrites, and often onion or garlic powder. The fat is also unkind to cats prone to pancreatitis.

If your cat has a condition

  • Kidney disease Avoid Lower than the 2,000 mg/1000kcal kidney-diet line. Phosphorus 1,036 mg/1000kcal
  • Diabetes Avoid Low in carbohydrate. Carbs 5% of calories
  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid Salty — avoid with heart disease. Sodium 3,642 mg/1000kcal
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
