Can cats eat garlic?

Dangerous

Roughly 3–5× more toxic than onion. The 'natural flea remedy' idea has no basis.

If your cat ate it

Signs
Lethargy, pale or yellow gums, red-brown urine, fast breathing, vomiting
When
Anemia 1–5 days later
What to do now
If a lot was eaten, go to a vet now (vomiting, activated charcoal). After small amounts, check bloodwork a few days later.

Don't. It hides in seasoned meat, dumplings and kimchi juice.

Why

Garlic is an Allium like onion and damages red blood cells, but it is stronger per gram. A single clove (~5 g) can matter for a small cat, and small daily amounts accumulate into anemia. Garlic supplements and garlic-flavoured treats are no exception.

If your cat has a condition

Dangerous for every cat, with or without a health condition.
