Can cats eat fig?

Avoid

Fig sap (ficin, psoralens) irritates the mouth and skin.

Don't.

Why

ASPCA lists fig as toxic to cats: the sap in fruit and leaves can irritate the mouth and gut and cause dermatitis. Dried figs are also very sugary.

If your cat has a condition

  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid Low in salt. Sodium 0 mg/1000kcal
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
