Can cats eat clams & shellfish?

Avoid

Raw clams destroy vitamin B1; cooked ones are salty and allergenic.

Don't.

Why

Raw clams contain thiaminase, which can cause B1 deficiency. Cooking removes it, but shellfish stay salty and shell fragments are hazardous. Japanese reports link abalone viscera to ear dermatitis in cats.
