Can cats eat almonds?

Avoid

Fatty and hard — can lodge in the throat or gut.

Don't.

Why

Nuts are over 50% fat (vomiting, diarrhea, pancreatitis) and hard enough to obstruct. Salted or chocolate-coated ones are worse.

If your cat has a condition

  • Kidney disease Avoid Lower than the 2,000 mg/1000kcal kidney-diet line. Phosphorus 900 mg/1000kcal
  • Diabetes Avoid Low in carbohydrate. Carbs 14% of calories
  • Heart disease (HCM) Avoid Low in salt. Sodium 10 mg/1000kcal
  • Urinary stones Avoid No specific stone concern known — water intake matters more.
